the enugu electricity distribution company, eedc, has explained that the recent reduction in power supply throughout the south-east is due to low system frequency caused by gas constraints that are currently impacting the power generation companies.
in a statement released on tuesday by emeka ezeh, the group head of corporate communications for eedc, the company noted that this constraint has forced the transmission company of nigeria, tcn, to implement load shedding of the available energy.
this development has resulted in a lower energy allocation being made to eedc, consequently affecting the daily electricity supply to customers served by its subsidiary companies, which include mainpower, transpower, firstpower, newera, and eastland.
eedc assured the public that all relevant stakeholders within the electricity supply industry are actively working to resolve the problem and restore the normal distribution of power.
the company extended its apology to customers for the inconvenience caused by the situation and appealed for their patience and understanding during this period.
