In a series of coordinated clearance operations throughout Plateau State, troops of the Joint Task Force of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Enduring Peace, OPEP, operating under the mandate of Operation WUTAN DAJI, have successfully neutralized two suspected terrorists, apprehended a kidnapping suspect, and destroyed criminal hideouts.
The intelligence-led operations, which were carried out on April 4, 2026, specifically targeted insurgent routes in Wase Local Government Area, with a concentration around Babangida, Adua, and Bokayi villages in the Dutsen Zaki forest, according to Captain Polycarp Oteh, OPEP’s media information officer, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.
According to the OPEP spokesperson, the forces engaged armed groups in a gunfight along the Babangida–Adua road while collaborating with local vigilantes in the areas of operation. Two suspects were killed while others fled with gunshot wounds.
“Arms and ammunition, including a locally manufactured firearm and multiple rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, were recovered during a subsequent search of the area,” he stated.
According to the OPEP media officer, forces in the Namu District of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area apprehended four suspected terrorists on April 5 after receiving information about suspicious movements.
One hundred rounds of ammunition were discovered on the suspects. However, troops were heavily attacked by other armed individuals while searching for their hiding place. While activities were ongoing in the vicinity, three of the apprehended individuals were shot and killed during the altercation.
In the meantime, a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village was apprehended by troops working with locals in the Shendam Local Government Area. The suspect is presently being held and is thought to be connected to a recent kidnapping in the town, according to the statement.
