After months of doubt about his future, Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract with Manchester United that will keep him there until 2031.
After joining United’s academy in 2014, the 21-year-old midfield player has already made 98 appearances for the team. He has represented England in the Euro 2024 final and scored the game-winning goal in the 2024 FA Cup final.
“This special club means everything to my family—Manchester United has always been my home,” Mainoo remarked.
“I appreciate the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt because I grew up witnessing the impact our club has on our city.”
Mainoo is one of the “naturally gifted young footballers in the world,” according to United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox.
“He is the ideal role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system because of his technical ability, dedicated professionalism, and humble personality,” he stated.
“We are thrilled that Kobbie has decided to stay longer, and we are confident that he will grow into one of the greatest players in the world, prepared to play a crucial part in a Manchester United team vying for the greatest honours.”
